Spectre returns as Branch Target Reuse, a practical attack on JIT engines

Researchers have revived Spectre as Branch Target Reuse, the first practical in-place Spectre v2 attack on JIT compilers. It exploits stale branch prediction entries to leak a root password hash from an Intel-based Linux kernel.
