California will fine robotaxi companies if their vehicles block first responders
Governor Gavin Newsom signed Senate Bill 1246, which penalizes robotaxi operators whose vehicles block ambulances or fire trucks for over 30 minutes. It also requires on-site incident technicians and US-based remote drivers, but takes effect only in July 2028.
