Apple releases iOS and macOS 27.2 with new Siri AI features and Music logo
Apple rolled out 27.2 updates across iOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS, led by Siri AI memory, expanded data sources, new languages, and a refreshed Apple Music logo.
Apple rolled out version 27.2 updates across its operating systems, including iOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS. The release centers on Siri AI changes, including conversation memory, broader data access, an Excluded Apps control, and new language support. Apple also introduced a refreshed Apple Music branding and other app updates.
Siri AI gains memory and broader context
iOS 27.2 adds a memory feature that lets Siri recall past conversations and reference them while chatting. Siri can also draw from more sources for answers, including photos attached in Messages, Calendar event attendees, voicemails, and improved Safari history and Reading List results. An Excluded Apps setting lets users choose which apps Siri, Search, and suggestions can access from one place. Granular text selection lets users select and copy only part of a Siri response.
New languages and Messages suggestions
Siri AI is now available in five more languages beyond English: French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. Siri AI remains unavailable in the EU and mainland China. Suggestions in Messages can help take action based on conversation context, such as adding a Calendar invite for a dinner.
Other iOS and app updates
Shared Albums in Photos adds caption and comment editing, helps avoid duplicate photos, and can remind participants before albums expire. Photos and Image Playground support SynthID watermarking to help identify whether an image was generated or modified with generative tools. The Podcasts Home tab separates New Episodes and Continue Playing. The Games app Friends tab adds context on friend suggestions and recent games played on friends' player pages. Simple Profiles in the Apple TV app gives household members separate profiles and recommendations. FaceTime supports adding a third-party sign language interpreter or live captioner to a call. Apple Pencil support arrives on the iPhone Duo foldable, and Apple Music has new branding.
macOS, watchOS, and visionOS changes
macOS Golden Gate 27.2 includes Siri AI enhancements for retaining useful context from previous interactions and drawing from a wider range of personal context. It also introduces Suggestions in Messages for quick actions in apps such as Calendar and Reminders based on conversation context. The update includes additional features, bug fixes, and security updates. watchOS receives mostly the same Siri related updates, while visionOS 27.2 includes the new languages and updated Music icon. Beta references in macOS 27.2 point to new gesture recognition capabilities in Photos, Notes, and Safari, which may be related to unconfirmed reports of touch support on the next MacBook Pro refresh that may be revealed at a scheduled public briefing this Wednesday.
