Apple Reportedly Plans Touchscreen MacBook and iPad Mini Launch for This Month

Apple is expected to unveil its first touchscreen laptop, potentially called MacBook Ultra, on or around October 27, alongside a redesigned iPad Mini with an OLED display and M6 chip updates for the entry-level MacBook Pro and iMac.

Touchscreen MacBook Expected This Month

Apple is reportedly preparing to unveil its first touchscreen laptop on or around October 27, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. While not a confirmed date, the timeframe is more concrete than any previous reporting on the long-awaited device, which has been the subject of rumors since 2023.

The laptop, potentially called MacBook Ultra, is expected to feature a dynamic interface that adapts to different modes of input. It is also expected to run on the same M5 Pro and Max chips as the current high-end MacBook Pro models, as an earlier report suggested there will not be pro-level versions of the new M6 chip.

iPad Mini and Mac Updates Also Incoming

The same presentation is expected to include a redesigned iPad Mini with an OLED display. Apple is also planning smaller updates to the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro and the iMac, both of which are slated to receive the new M6 chip that debuted with the Mac mini refresh. The entry-level MacBook Pro currently runs an M5 chip, while the iMac remains on an M4 chip.

A Busy Month for Apple

October is shaping up to be a packed month for Apple product news. The company is also slated to introduce a new collection of smart home gadgets on October 13. The event schedule follows the summertime debut of Apple's first foldable device, the iPhone Duo.
