Granite Switch 4.1.1 Patch: Update Models Like Software
IBM's Granite Switch 4.1.1 is a fully backwards compatible patch release with an updated multilingual speech-to-text model and an improved Decision adapter, while keeping the base model unchanged.
Granite Switch 4.1.1 is a patch release that is fully backwards compatible with Granite Switch 4.1 and requires no migration. It updates the Granite Speech ASR model and the Decision adapter, while leaving the base model untouched.
What changed in 4.1.1
The release includes an updated Granite Speech ASR model for multilingual speech-to-text across 10 languages, with native punctuation and capitalization so transcripts are ready for downstream models without a formatting pass. It also updates the Decision adapter in granitelib-core, with improved overall performance on the Jev Decision Index test set.
How the update is shipped
Apart from training the new ASR model and Decision adapter, nothing was recomputed, and the base model is untouched. Users compose the latest adapters they want and deploy.
What comes next
The team says this pattern can power more than patch releases to an IBM-provided model. It is working on tutorials and an Adapter SDK so developers and third-party providers can build their own adapters, iterate on versions, test features, and ship updates the way they ship software. Readers can also test the latest models and try the new multilingual and punctuation capabilities powering the Speech-to-Decisions demo.
