Apple unveils iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone, from $1,999

The first foldable iPhone
Apple has published the product page for iPhone Duo, the company's first foldable iPhone. According to Apple, the device is the thinnest iPhone yet when open and carries the largest display ever fitted to an iPhone — 50 percent larger than the screen of the iPhone 18 Pro Max. The outer display covers more than 90 percent of the screen area of the iPhone 18 Pro. The model comes in two finishes: Night Sky and Star White.
Display, design and durability
The inner 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR display is built from ten ultrathin layers, and a nano-texture finish cuts glare. The FaceTime camera sits under the display, which keeps the viewing surface uninterrupted, while the aspect ratio stays consistent between the inner and outer panels. The frame and hinge cover are made of grade 5 titanium; the inner display has a scratch-resistant coating, the front and back use Ceramic Shield, and the phone is rated IP68 for water and dust resistance.
Chip, cameras and battery
A vapor-cooled A20 Pro chip with a dual 16-core Neural Engine handles the heavy work. The camera system pairs two 48MP sensors — a Fusion Ultra Wide and a Fusion Main — and supports 48MP photos and 4K video at up to 120 frames per second, plus features such as Duo Preview, Kid Cue, Duo FaceTime and Smart Take. An iPhone-first dual-battery system, an eSIM-based internal layout and the C2 modem cover power: fast wired charging reaches about 50 percent in roughly 20 minutes. Software-side highlights include iOS 27 and Siri AI, which Apple says is rolling out in English.
Price and availability
The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999, or about $83.29 a month over 24 months; leasing through Apple Upgrade starts at $57.99 a month. Pre-orders open on October 16 at 5:00 a.m. PT, with availability from October 23. Storage comes in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB versions. Apple says the device is made with 35 percent recycled material by weight, and its Trade In program accepts eligible Android devices as well.
