Kagi adds a setting that removes paywalled links from search results

The search provider Kagi has published a changelog entry dated 21 August under the heading "A new Stocks widget and a better everyday Assistant experience". Its most notable item is a setting that removes paywalled links from search results automatically, listed in the Kagi Search section alongside the widget work.

Filtering out paywalled results

"As well, we've added a setting for removing paywalled links from search results automatically," the entry states. In practice that lets a user keep pages whose full text sits behind a subscription or payment out of the results list altogether, addressing a long-standing friction point for people who cannot or do not want to pay for access.

The stocks widget and Assistant

The same release revamps Kagi's stocks widget. According to the changelog it should now appear more often when needed, can display information about exchange-traded funds in addition to individual stocks, and includes a price chart with animated transitions between time windows that put the size of a move in context.

In Kagi Assistant, user messages now render links, Markdown and LaTeX. The update also lets users search across all threads, sort them by recency or alphabetically, and start with "/" to filter by folder. Temporary threads can be kept for 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days, inside what the changelog describes as a calmer, easier-to-scan settings experience.

Smaller fixes

The entry closes with a list of fixes, including direct URLs for search pages that use Kagi's built-in lenses with names instead of numbers — for example kagi.com/search?lens=forums — plus corrections covering keyboard shortcuts, browser-extension behaviour and several interface elements.
