Meta launches Spaces for collaboration with Muse agents

Meta has launched Spaces, a way to organize conversations with its Muse agents around specific projects, with app integrations and a second new feature this week.

Meta has introduced Spaces, a new feature for communicating and collaborating with its Muse agents. Spaces are topic based conversations that live in the sidebar and help Muse work toward a specific goal. The launch follows the recent Muse Voice feature and continues Meta's push to build out agent experiences.

What Spaces are

Spaces are breakout conversations centered on a particular topic. Meta calls them custom experiences. They appear in the sidebar of the interface used with a Muse agent. Clicking a Space opens the conversation, where Muse works toward a particular goal on the user's behalf.

Examples include planning a vacation, collecting recipes for a family event, tracking holiday gifts, planning a wedding, or organizing DIY projects. Meta says users can describe an idea in chat and Muse builds a space for them, whether that is a tracker, planner, or project board.

App integrations and Zuckerberg's examples

Spaces can be integrated with third-party apps and information. Meta says connected apps can keep spaces updated in the background, so new concert dates, price changes, or savings progress appear without the user asking.

On Friday, Mark Zuckerberg posted about the feature on X. He said he had made a BBQ game, an event tracker, and a home control dashboard using Spaces.

Muse growth and recent features

Muse agents and their cuddly avatars have received a relatively warm reception over the past few months. During an October earnings call, Zuckerberg said the agents had 10 million users in the U.S. and Canada less than two months after debuting.

Spaces is the second new Muse feature Meta has debuted in the last week. On Thursday, the company announced Muse Voice, which allows users to video chat with their agent and give it commands verbally. Meta is also competing with other AI agents that use cartoonish personas, including OpenAI's dots and SpaceXAI's Grokbot.
