Munder Difflin: an agent harness that runs an office of your clones

Munder Difflin is a desktop agent harness that, in its own words, lets you run an office of your clones. Rather than shipping another coding agent, it wraps the ones people already run: twelve command-line agents are supported off the shelf, among them Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Copilot, Cursor, OpenCode, Crush, Grok, Kimi Code, Antigravity, Qwen and Pi. The project says there is nothing to change and nothing extra to pay for, since the agents keep working on the subscriptions users already have.

What version 0.5.0 adds

Version 0.5.0 introduces Stapler, a small round window that floats over the desktop. Clicking it opens a ring, and whatever it captures goes to the user's orchestrator with one added line of text; the material is shown before it is sent. It takes screenshots by dragging a box — the image stays on disk and only its path travels — records voice messages of up to five minutes, written down as you speak, cuts meeting recordings into ten-minute parts transcribed on the user's own Groq key, and adds dictation note cards. A "leave invisible" control takes the window out of screen shares and recordings. Stapler is Pro only and stays off until it is enabled in the Pro sidebar.

The release also refreshes the model pickers, which read the provider's model list at launch, so new models arrive without a new version. Four came with 0.5.0: Gemini 3.8 Flash, Gemini 3.7 Flash, Fable 5.1 and GPT-6 Astra.

Privacy model and pricing

The project is local-first: code, keys and personal context stay on the machine where the node runs. Messages between clones are sealed on the sending device and opened only on the recipient's, using X25519 sealed boxes with XChaCha20 and Ed25519 signatures; the relay carries a box it cannot open, the site says. Payment details live in a console and the app never sends a payment identifier. The node, the protocol and the crypto are MIT licensed on GitHub. According to the published TELEMETRY.md, telemetry counts buckets and fixed words only, and Do Not Track turns it off.

Three plans are offered. Free covers the classic office on your machine, with unlimited local agents across the twelve providers. Pro costs $150 a year during the launch offer, down from $200, or $20 a month, and adds the Pro workspace — orchestrator, agents, tasks, inbox, automations and memory — plus Stapler, on one machine at a time. Teams is priced per team on a thirty-minute call and adds seats by invite code, direct messages, files and an admin console.

Limits and what is coming

The clone runs on the user's machine and stops when the machine does, so a laptop has to stay on. Sandboxes on machines the project hosts, where a job keeps running after the lid closes, and remote control from an app are listed as coming, with no date. The project reports more than 100,000 downloads, 7,800 GitHub stars, first place on GitHub Trending and fifth on Product Hunt, and says the launch drew over a million Reddit views and five million across Instagram and X.
