NVIDIA Isaac ROS 5.0 Brings Agentic Workflows to Robotics Development

NVIDIA has released Isaac ROS 5.0, a set of GPU-accelerated robotics packages built on the open source Robot Operating System (ROS), at the ROSCon conference in Toronto. The update adds agentic development workflows, support for the newest ROS release and a broader deployment path on the NVIDIA Jetson platform.

AI agents join robotics development

Isaac ROS 5.0 supports ROS Lyrical and Ubuntu 24.04. With the Open Source Robotics Alliance, NVIDIA contributed a standard data-handling interface to ROS Lyrical that lets robotics software run efficiently on GPUs and other computing hardware.

The release ships Isaac skills for setup and manipulation — reusable workflows for developers and AI agents — plus agent-ready documentation. A FoundationStereo skill adapts stereo perception to a specific camera, FoundationPose tracks object position and orientation up to 5.5x faster, and pick and place is available as a standalone skill.

Ecosystem partners build on the release

AgenticROS, an open source project sponsored by 3D perception company RealSense, connects Isaac ROS with NVIDIA Nemotron open models and NemoClaw blueprints so AI agents can interact with ROS-based robots. Intrinsic's Open Machine Tending Solution, part of the open source Intrinsic Core suite, is a reference application for CNC machine tending with built-in FoundationPose compatibility.

Seeed Studio, Magna and Flexiv are adopting the packages as well, and Ekumen reports that isaac_ros_cumotion maps a collision-free path for a warehouse arm in roughly 2 to 5 milliseconds.

Running the stack on the robot

Isaac ROS 5.0 runs on Jetson devices from the entry-level Jetson Orin Nano to Jetson Thor. Mentee Robotics uses it as the perception and AI backbone of its MenteeBot humanoid, and Universal Robots has built it into its AI Accelerator SDK.

ROBOTIS is integrating Isaac ROS into its AI Worker robot for vision-guided picking and alignment, FieldAI is moving its on-robot foundation models onto Jetson, and Noble Machines is speeding up development of general-purpose industrial robots. Isaac ROS 5.0 is available now, free and open source.
