Opera Relaunches Air Browser With Soundscapes, Breathing Exercises, and Ad Blocker

Opera has relaunched its Air browser for Windows and macOS with an updated set of anti distraction features, including built in music, breathing exercises and neck stretches, new wallpapers, automatic dark mode, an ad blocker and a free VPN. The audiovisual makeover is designed to help people focus on what they are actually supposed to be doing, rather than encouraging users to wander into another Reddit rabbit hole.

Built in sound and movement

Air Soundscapes add a soundtrack split into four moods: Focus, Relax, Work and Ambience. Ambience includes the tranquil sounds of forests and the sea. Opera seemingly knows that people turn to ambient playlists when they are trying to concentrate, so the browser now provides that option directly.

The update also adds built in breathing exercises that can be scheduled to appear at chosen intervals. Users can also follow along with neck stretches from inside the browser.

A calmer interface

Air remains purposefully streamlined, so any apps a person wants in the sidebar must be added manually. Opera has added new wallpapers that it says incorporate open spaces, perspective and natural textures to make browsing feel more serene. An automatic dark mode has been added as well.

Given its resistance to the many distractions of the web, Air includes a built in ad blocker and offers a free VPN.

Optional AI and availability

Air does interface with ChatGPT, but that sidebar option is unchecked by default. The resigned user experience builds on the first version of Air that Opera introduced in early 2025 as a mindful antidote to the chaos of the internet. Opera Air remains free to download on Windows and macOS.
