DayOne Secures $3.7 Billion Financing for Malaysia Data Centre Expansion
Singapore-based data centre developer DayOne has secured 15 billion ringgit ($3.67 billion) in new financing from a seven-bank consortium to fund hyperscale data centre expansion in Johor, Malaysia.
New Financing Package
Singapore-based data centre developer DayOne said on Tuesday it has secured an additional 15 billion ringgit ($3.67 billion) in financing from a consortium of seven banks to fund its expansion in Malaysia. The package consists of a $2.4 billion offshore term loan facility and a 5.5 billion ringgit Murabahah facility.
The new financing expands on a previously granted 15 billion ringgit loan from 2025, bringing the company's total recent funding commitments to 30 billion ringgit.
Johor Hyperscale Expansion
The loan will be used to fund DayOne's expansion of hyperscale data centre capacity in Johor, Malaysia's key data centre destination. The country has emerged as Southeast Asia's fastest-growing data centre hub, attracting billions of dollars in investment from global technology firms including Amazon, Google and Microsoft.
Bank Consortium
The loan was arranged by a seven-bank consortium that included DBS Group and Standard Chartered, as well as Malaysia's CIMB Group Holdings and Maybank, France's Crédit Agricole CIB, Singapore's Oversea-Chinese Banking Corp and United Overseas Bank.
