World of Warcraft: Forever Mod Blocks All Contact With Asmongold Fans

Fans of the streamer Asmongold are flooding the beta of World of Warcraft: Forever with spam and slurs. A player named Solastro built OlympusMute, a client-side mod that hides their chat, guild invites and chat bubbles from view.

World of Warcraft: Forever, Blizzard's re-release of its long-running MMO, is in beta, and its public spaces are already filling up with spam and slurs posted by fans of the streamer Asmongold. One player has answered with a client-side mod that removes those players from view entirely.

What OlympusMute does

The mod is called OlympusMute. It was created by a player named Solastro and named after Olympus, Asmongold's main guild. It builds a mute list and hides chat messages from any player whose name contains the word Olympus. It also auto-declines group and guild invitations sent by muted players.

According to its description, it hides all chat from muted players: Say, Yell, Emote, Whisper, General, Trade and custom channels, Guild, Party, Raid, Raid Warning and Instance chat, along with their chat bubbles in the open world. The result is a nuclear block: muted players are not removed from the server, but a player who installs the mod will no longer see them.

Why players want it

Beta participants describe harassment and channel spam. The X user @mrfishpsirit watched an Asmongold stream for three minutes and wrote that the chat was harassing a random player in Stormwind, sharing screenshots of chat bubbles with racist insults and calls for sexual violence. Asmongold replied to the post with a list of slurs he said he had invented for the game's fictional races.

It is not only about offensive language. Players report that Asmongold's followers send guild invitations to newcomers the moment they log in, trying to absorb them into the mass, while their chat fills public areas and trade channels with noise.

Why the usual escape route is gone

In most MMOs, players are sorted into servers, which World of Warcraft calls realms. Streamers used to pick one realm and gather their audience there, so everyone else could simply play somewhere else. Blizzard changed that for Forever: instead of realms, players are grouped by rulesets. Huge, personality-driven guilds are therefore much harder to avoid, which is the problem OlympusMute tries to solve.

The mod shows how players are handling moderation under the new structure: instead of asking the studio to act, they filter part of the community out of their own client.
