TUMO Opens Its First Centre in Georgia at the Kutaisi Technology Hub
The Armenian educational network TUMO has opened its first centre in Georgia, in Kutaisi's former parliament building, now part of the city's Technopark. From September, up to 1,800 schoolchildren and teenagers a week will study there free of charge.
The Armenian educational network TUMO has opened its first centre in Georgia. It is located in Kutaisi, in the building of the country's former parliament — a landmark known for its glass dome, which after reconstruction became part of the city's Technopark. The centre is set to begin operating in September.
Free classes for thousands of students
Every week, up to 1,800 schoolchildren and teenagers will be able to study at the new centre free of charge. The curriculum covers 11 areas, including programming, robotics, design, animation and game development, along with other modern digital disciplines.
Partners and the opening ceremony
The project was implemented in cooperation with the Georgian Innovation and Technology Agency (GITA). The opening ceremony in Kutaisi was attended by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili, Deputy Minister Irakli Nadareishvili and Bank of Georgia CEO Archil Gachechiladze.
A first step beyond Armenia
For TUMO, the launch is a first step in expanding its educational network in Georgia and in promoting its model of free technological education outside Armenia. The Kutaisi site is the network's first centre in Georgia.
