Cloudflare expands Artifacts and launches competition for agentic Git

Cloudflare is expanding Artifacts for agent-built software with Worker deployments, event subscriptions, data jurisdiction choices and metrics ahead of a Git platform competition.

Artifacts enters open beta

Cloudflare's Artifacts, a versioned filesystem that speaks Git and can scale to millions of repositories, is now available in open beta to customers on the Workers Paid plan. It provides programmable primitives for creating and forking repositories, storing code and agent context, and using Git operations.

Developers are already using Artifacts to store projects created by vibe-coding platforms, persist code and context from agent sessions, and create isolated repositories where multiple agents can begin from the same point and compare or merge their results later.

Workers integration and repository control

Artifacts repositories can now connect to Workers through Workers Builds. A push to the production branch deploys the updated Worker, while pushes to other branches create or update Workers Previews for testing before release. Developers can connect an existing Worker or start a new project with its code stored in Artifacts.

A Worker can also use an Artifacts binding to create or fork repositories, inspect files and commits, and issue repository-scoped Git tokens. An automated workflow can fork a project for an agent task, read its AGENTS.md instructions, and inspect the agent's changes when they are pushed.

Events, jurisdiction and metrics

Artifacts can publish events when repositories are created, imported, forked, deleted, pushed to, cloned or fetched. Workers can subscribe to those events to run CI, start a code review agent or deploy a change. A push subscription can pass the repository, branch and new commit to a review workflow.

Developers can select a U.S. or EU jurisdiction when creating an Artifacts namespace, and repositories within that namespace automatically follow the same restriction. The Cloudflare dashboard now displays total operations, pulls, pushes, errors and error rate for each repository. These metrics can also be queried for custom dashboards or monitoring.

Competition targets concurrent agent workflows

Cloudflare is seeking projects that rethink the Git platform for an era when many agents work on the same codebase. Entrys must demonstrate at least two agents making changes concurrently and may explore new approaches to repositories, branches, pull requests, worktrees, reviews, merge conflicts, agent context or deciding which changes should ship.

Submissions are due October 14, 2026. They must include a 5 to 10 minute video, source code under a permissive open source license such as MIT, Apache or BSD, and instructions for running or trying the project. Cloudflare will select three winning projects and fly up to two team members from each to San Francisco for Cloudflare Connect. The first-place team will receive $25,000 in Cloudflare credits and an invitation to the VIP speaker dinner.

Artifacts pricing is based on repository operations and stored data. Cloudflare will begin billing for usage on October 15, 2026.
