AMD predicts next quarter revenue above Intel guidance, eyes x86 lead

AMD reported Q3 2026 revenue of $13.4 billion and forecast about $17 billion next quarter, above Intel's $15 billion to $16 billion guidance, as Lisa Su outlined faster 2027 growth.

AMD has predicted it will win more revenue than Intel in its next quarter, potentially marking the first time it becomes the dominant vendor whose main product is x86 processors. The company announced Q3 2026 results with revenue up 45 percent year over year to $13.4 billion, while its Data Center segment reached $8.5 billion. AMD also told investors it expects around $17 billion of revenue next quarter, compared with Intel's guidance of $15 billion to $16 billion.

Revenue growth and segment results

AMD's Q3 2026 revenue grew 45 percent year over year to $13.4 billion. Data Center revenue reached $8.5 billion, up 97 percent year over year. Sales in the client and gaming segment fell eight percent to $3.7 billion, while PC chip sales rose seven percent year over year to $2.9 billion. AMD said strong sales of Ryzen mobile processors drove that PC growth.

Guidance and 2027 outlook

AMD expects around $17 billion of revenue next quarter, while Intel offered guidance of $15 billion to $16 billion. CEO Lisa Su said 2027 should be a strong momentum year for both CPU and data center AI businesses. She said the overall company will grow greater than 80 percent, with the data center CPU business about doubling and the data center AI business significantly more than doubling.

Supply chain and market position

Su said AMD has worked across its supply chain to secure wafers, substrates, advanced packaging, memory, and other key components needed to support much higher growth next year. She also said AMD is deepening collaboration with supply chain partners and investing alongside them to secure long term capacity. If those predictions are correct, AMD would likely accelerate away from Intel to become the leading provider of x86 processors, though Intel would still have higher overall revenue because of its foundry operations. AMD is arguably already the server CPU technology leader and second to Nvidia in the GPU market, while its client business is seeing larger enterprise adoption of Ryzen PRO PCs, including at major banks, automotive companies, and healthcare concerns. Investors sent AMD's share price up by around five percent in after hours trading.
