Anthropic Introduces Personal Finance in Claude Beta
Claude Pro, Max, and Ultra users in the US can connect bank and card accounts read-only to ask spending questions, check balances, and get charts in everyday language.
Anthropic is rolling out Personal Finance in Claude in beta this week for users on the Pro, Max, and Ultra plans in the US, letting them securely connect bank and card accounts and ask questions about their money in plain language. Access is read-only, so Claude cannot move, manage, or invest funds, and the feature has no ads or sponsored recommendations. It explains balances, transactions, and financial terms without offering credit cards, loans, or savings accounts.
What users can ask
In one example, Claude adds up monthly spending across connected accounts and sorts it by category, showing $4,309.37 with more than half going to rent and utilities and $1,024.51 to food and drink. Users can ask whether spending is higher than usual, what is left before payday, or whether anything looks off, and Claude can point to duplicate charges, unexpected fees, or bills that have risen over time. It can also answer broader questions, such as whether someone spends more than they make or what an APR is, then add up interest charged. Users can request a weekly spending chart, a calendar of due payments, or a dashboard of selected numbers, and adjust it.
Security and privacy
Claude's access is read-only and Personal Finance is not designed to give investment advice. Claude can make mistakes, so users should ask which transactions support a number and check important figures with their bank. Accounts are connected through Plaid after the user signs in to their bank directly, and Claude does not ask for or see bank passwords. For chosen accounts, Claude sees the bank name, account name, type, last four digits, balances and credit limits, and up to two years of transactions. Conversations in the Personal Finance hub are not used to train models, while privacy settings apply outside the hub. Accounts can be unlinked at any time.
Getting started and what's next
When Personal Finance appears in Claude's sidebar, users can open it, connect one account, and ask one question, such as whether they can afford a trip this spring or how much they could save each month. Setup steps and data details are in the Help Center. Anthropic says Personal Finance is a first step and is exploring ways for Claude to work alongside licensed professionals and regulated firms for larger money decisions, inviting banks, wealth managers, and financial services companies to help shape that future.
