Bluesky Expands AI-Powered Attie App to Let Anyone Build Websites, Games and More

Bluesky at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026 expanded Attie, its AI-powered platform, so users can now build websites, games, quizzes and polls that run on the AT Protocol and reach the network's 47 million registered users.

Bluesky Expands Attie Into a Creation Platform

Bluesky announced on Thursday at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026 that it is expanding Attie, its more experimental platform, with new tools that let creators build websites, quizzes, games, polls and other interactive experiences. Attie previously offered AI-powered technology for building custom social feeds.

The company said the new capabilities are meant to give everyday users the ability to create the kind of experiences that previously only software developers could build. Anything made with Attie runs on the same AT Protocol (atproto) that powers Bluesky and other decentralized social apps that make up the decentralized social web known as the Atmosphere.

CEO Toni Schneider Calls It Social Vibe Coding

Bluesky CEO Toni Schneider shared the news during an interview at Disrupt, describing the feature as "social vibe coding or vibe coding for your community." He said vibe coding today is largely a single-user, solo experience, and that Attie is designed to let people build together or build for a group of people.

When creators build with Attie, they are connected to their atproto identity, and the tool can suggest things users might want to make based on their public Bluesky profiles. To build with Attie, users can bring their own AI model or use open-weight options.

Distribution and Private Data Plans

Bluesky COO Rose Wang said the built-in distribution is what makes the tool notable, since many AI-built projects struggle to find an audience. "This is what makes Attie so interesting is that it comes with the Bluesky distribution, so it doesn't stand alone," she said.

Bluesky's network today has 47 million registered users, though the company has seen a decline in engagement, as some users who tested the platform later returned to X. Wang and Schneider both framed Attie as part of Bluesky's larger effort to reinvigorate activity on its network by focusing on both developers and communities in the months ahead.

Schneider also said the protocol's forthcoming support for private data, which he called the biggest request from developers, is now in alpha testing with plans for a rollout by the end of the year. He described the kinds of projects Attie will enable: "There should be lots and lots of these fun, small social experiences for your friends," adding, "We don't all have to go communicate with the entire world all the time."

Leadership Context

Schneider, a former CEO of Automattic and a partner at True Ventures, had been leading Bluesky on an interim basis after former CEO Jay Graber stepped down in March to become the company's chief innovation officer. He is now taking charge of the company as it enters the AI era.
