Call of Duty: Warzone will let players hide goofy operator skins

Players who find the stranger cosmetics in Call of Duty: Warzone hard to look at will soon have a way to tune them out. According to Engadget, Season 1 of Modern Warfare 4 will introduce a toggle for Warzone matches that replaces player skins obtained from other sources in the Call of Duty universe with standard Operator appearances.

How the new setting works

The toggle is off by default, so matches look exactly as they do now unless a player turns it on. It is also a personal choice: enabling it does not change what anyone else in the lobby sees. Even with the option active, a player's own skin appears as usual, so someone who likes a cartoon outfit can keep it while every other character on screen wears standard gear.

From Rambo to Wubz

Over the years the game has let players dress as everything from Rambo to Beavis and Butt-Head, and its cosmetic catalogue has grown steadily stranger. Engadget notes that players can even be taken out by a fuzzy creature called Wubz, which does little for the mood of a match that is otherwise built around military combat.

Who the option is for

The setting targets players who want Warzone to stay visually grounded, and they will likely adopt it as soon as it goes live. It also leaves the cosmetics business intact: the skins stay in the game and keep their value elsewhere, while a single switch lets each player decide how much of that style to see.
