Disney+ and Hulu raise prices again: ad-free Disney+ now $21.50 a month

Disney is raising prices on many of its streaming subscriptions. According to a Bloomberg report, this is the fourth increase for Disney+ and its bundles in four years. The new rates took effect on September 23, and Engadget notes that new customers will see them reflected in their next bill.

What the new prices look like

The ad-free version of Disney+ rises to $21.50 per month, a 13 percent increase. The ad-free bundle that combines Disney+ and Hulu goes up by $2, to $22 a month — still roughly half of what the two services cost when bought separately.

Ad-supported plans are affected as well. Disney+ with ads moves from $12 to $12.50 a month, and Hulu with ads gets the same $12.50 price. One exception: the ad-supported bundle that contains both services stays unchanged at $13 per month.

The fourth hike in four years

Engadget describes this as the fourth price increase for Disney+ and its various bundles in four years, which makes an annual hike look like standing practice rather than a one-off. The publication says it has contacted Disney for more information and will update its report when it learns more.

Higher prices, a shrinking slate

The increase lands while Disney+ trims its line-up. The company cancelled Daredevil: Born Again, so its third season in 2027 will be the show's last, and it is the final live-action Marvel series currently known to be in production. VisionQuest is still due later this year, while on the Star Wars side Ahsoka returns for a second season in January — beyond that, the pipeline is limited to animation.

Why the bundles matter

Hulu keeps supplying fresh programming, including originals such as Alien: Earth and Paradise, plus next-day access to shows from ABC, Fox and other networks. For subscribers, the combined packages therefore remain the cheaper route: the ad-supported bundle at $13 and the ad-free bundle at $22 both undercut paying for the services individually.
