FablePool: pooling credits behind a prompt for public AI builds

FablePool lets backers pool credits behind a software prompt; when a project reaches its funding target, an AI agent builds it in public through milestones with visible spend, logs and outputs. Builds can fail.

What FablePool does

FablePool is a crowdfunding site for software that no single person could justify paying for. Its pitch is blunt: build software too expensive for one person to create. Users pool credits behind a software idea, and when a project reaches its funding target, an AI agent builds it in public through milestones with visible spend, logs and outputs.

The site explains the reasoning in two lines: one person cannot justify spending thousands building a niche tool, but hundreds of people can each back it with a few credits.

How it works

The process has four steps. Someone posts a prompt describing the tool, automation, demo, game, app or research project they want built. The community votes projects up to surface useful ideas and bury weak ones. Backers add credits until the project reaches its funding threshold. Then the AI agent works through the milestones and publishes progress, spend and outputs.

The funding ladder shown on the site is marked in four stages: 25% plan priced, 50% first build run, 75% outputs visible, and 100% funded. The landing page also carries counters: 519 builders signed up, $3,094.97 pooled into credits, and 12 public builds shipped. One listed example is a research assistant plugin asking for 3,200 credits from 59 backers, where milestone 1 is already funded and the AI has started.

What is being backed right now

The public project list includes “Identify the best way you can contribute to HomeAssistant and do it” (5,909 of 20,000 credits, 30% full and building), “Build open-dgm: an open-source Darwin Gödel Machine framework for recursively self-improving coding agents” (13,721 of 11,841 credits, shown as 100% full and awaiting funding), a Monero mobile wallet focused on privacy, security and reproducible builds (919 of 13,038 credits, 7% full), and “AI Creates a Programming Language” (1,493 of 12,327 credits, 12% full).

What careful backers should know

The FAQ is explicit that FablePool does not fund companies. Backers add credits to a specific project pool; they do not buy equity, tokens or returns. When a pool fills, the AI agent works through the project milestones, and the project page shows progress, spend, logs and outputs so that people can see what happened.

Builds can fail. Backing funds AI build attempts, and some attempts may fail or produce imperfect outputs — the public ledger and logs are meant to make that visible. Voting and backing are also separate actions: voting ranks projects, while backing adds credits.
