Taipei GTA is a free-to-play browser game created through AICodeWith, a platform that gives developers access to DeepSeek, Qwen, Kimi, GLM, and more than 30 other AI models. The project reportedly consumed about US$10,000 in prepaid coding tokens.

AICodeWith appears to be the game's developer as well as the tool used to build it. The game runs as a web app on the Vercel cloud platform and includes selectable languages in the upper corner of its interface. A Taiwan television news report said Taipei GTA attracted 1.2 million concurrent users within three days of its release.

Taipei locations and open-world gameplay

Taipei GTA lets players explore free-roaming versions of several Taipei landmarks and districts. Current locations include Ximending, Taipei Main Station, and Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall. The game represents city streets with neon signs, motor scooters, convenience stores, cram school advertisements, night markets, and police officers.

Players begin on foot with their clothing, fists, and NTD$500, worth about US$16. Taipei GTA adds crime to the open-world format, while its current structured content consists of 93 missions. It remains online and is available without charge.

Performance and continued development

In a brief test on a laptop using the Radeon 890M integrated graphics processor without switching to a discrete GPU, the game ran at more than 100FPS. Taipei GTA uses low-poly models and simple lighting, which give it an early-2000s retrogaming appearance.

The game is still under development and expansion. Its developers are asking the community which directions they would like to see included in future updates.
