Google's NotebookLM Gets TikTok-Style Video Shorts

Google's AI notebook, NotebookLM, is taking another step toward multimodal AI. According to The Decoder's July 2, 2026 report, NotebookLM has introduced TikTok-style short video generation, allowing users to turn any document, research paper, or notes into AI-generated short videos.

How NotebookLM Video Generation Works

NotebookLM uses Google's Gemini model for text analysis. Users upload a document, NotebookLM analyzes it, extracts key theses, then generates a short video (15-60 seconds) with visual illustrations, text overlays, and AI narration.

Significance for Content Creators

This feature is especially important for bloggers, journalists, and researchers. Converting a single article into a video — which used to take hours — now takes minutes. NotebookLM was already known for Audio Overviews (podcast-style audio summaries), and now video format has been added.
