Perplexity launches Teammates, always-on AI agents for work

Perplexity has launched Teammates, always-on AI agents for work that can take on multiple roles inside a workspace. The agents pull existing projects, skills, and memory from Perplexity tools already in use, and the feature requires a subscription to the company's $200 per month Max plan.

What Teammates do

Perplexity is taking on OpenAI and Anthropic with its work-focused AI agents. Teammates can perform an array of tasks while running 24/7, and you can assign each Teammate different jobs that they can perform simultaneously, much like OpenAI's Dots and Claude Duet. Each Teammate gets their own thread, and users can keep tabs on progress through individual threads in the Perplexity app.

How they build on Perplexity Computer

Teammates integrate with Perplexity Computer, an AI system that can deploy agents on your device to complete tasks. Perplexity says Teammates "build on top" of Computer by offering the ability to collaborate and complete "ongoing, large-scale work." Users can also interact with Teammates in Slack.
