Square Kiosk Pairs 21.5-Inch Touchscreen With Conversational AI
Square has introduced the Square Kiosk, a 21.5-inch touchscreen ordering device with a conversational AI voice layer that understands a seller's menu and responds in real time. It costs $1,999 with a $99 monthly software fee.
Conversational AI Takes Orders
Square is launching new hardware: a large kiosk for ordering things that has a touchscreen and lets you talk to an AI. The device is called the Square Kiosk.
According to Square, the Kiosk has a large pill shape and features an "agentic, conversational voice layer" that fully understands a seller's menu and listens and responds in real time. The company says this enables customers to order the way they would naturally talk to staff.
While talking with the AI agent, customers can ask questions and request modifications and substitutions to their orders.
Hardware and Payments
The Kiosk is built around a 21.5-inch touchscreen. Square says the device can welcome customers as they approach, thanks to presence detection.
When it is time to pay, customers can use the contactless payment reader or the card slot.
Pricing and Availability
The Square Kiosk is available starting today at $1,999 for businesses with a Square Plus or Premium subscription. The device also carries a $99 per-device monthly software fee.
