Zuckerberg unveils Meta Enterprise Platform, led by former MongoDB CEO CJ Desai

Meta announced on Monday, September 28, the creation of an enterprise services business built on its Muse models and AI agents. The unit, called Meta Enterprise Platform, was unveiled by CEO Mark Zuckerberg in a Facebook post.

What the platform includes

According to the announcement, Meta will initially bring its full technology stack to businesses and developers, including the Muse agent, Meta Business Agent, Muse API and Muse Code. Zuckerberg said the goal is to help customers grow. Beyond companion agents, the company plans to sell business and coding agents, and to power customer applications through its API platform.

Competition in the enterprise market

The move puts Meta in competition not only with other model builders but with Microsoft, Amazon and Google, all of which already have a head start in selling AI services to enterprise customers.

The financial base

Advertising remains the core of Meta's business. In the first half of 2026, its online businesses, excluding virtual reality, earned $50.3 billion in profit, while ad revenue reached $114.4 billion. Nearly all of that profit comes from advertising.

A trust problem

The new unit will be led by Chirantan 'CJ' Desai, who stepped down as MongoDB's CEO on Monday. His task is to convince enterprises to embrace Meta. A similar attempt flopped in 2016, when the company introduced Facebook At Work, a version of its social networks tuned for internal collaboration.

According to The Register's assessment, Meta's rivals have had scandals of their own, but they are established B2B players. Meta recently agreed to an $18 billion settlement over allegations that it used addictive features that negatively affected children's health.

The platform gives Meta a way to earn revenue beyond advertising. Winning enterprise trust, however, is a slow process.
