Apple is adding an AI chatbot to Pages, Keynote, and Numbers

Apple is adding an AI assistant to its Pages, Keynote, and Numbers productivity apps. The assistant is built on AI models from Apple and OpenAI and can understand a document's context. It is rolling out in beta to devices compatible with Apple Intelligence running iOS 27, iPadOS 27, or macOS 27 or later.

Productivity apps gain AI features

In Keynote, the assistant can design, animate, and refine slides. In Pages, it can draft, restructure, and tweak written content. In Numbers, it can calculate, visualize, and organize data, suggest chart types, and build custom tables.

Third-party AI agents can plug in

Keynote, Pages, and Numbers now support the Model Context Protocol on macOS 27 or later. This allows third-party AI agents to plug into the apps.

Creative apps get updates too

Pixelmator Pro is introducing Generate Fill, which edits part of an image by describing the changes. Apple says the tool automatically matches the lighting, perspective, and texture of the surrounding environment. Logic Pro for Mac and iPad is getting a Liquid Glass redesign and an AI assistant that can set up a vocal track from a single prompt and edit existing projects. A redesigned Browser on Mac uses on-device AI to analyze, classify, and tag added sounds. Final Cut Pro is getting templates, graphics, titles, and transitions through MotionVFX, plus a Content Hub with stock videos, photos, and backgrounds.

Availability and pricing

The AI assistant is rolling out in beta to compatible devices. Updates to Apple's Creator's Studio will be available to existing subscribers for free in November.
