Google partners with Henry Cavill to build a video game on Googlebook

Google has teamed up with actor and producer Henry Cavill, who is building a video game on one of the company's new Googlebook laptops. The project is set to arrive in November, and Google is presenting it as a demonstration of what the Android-based machines can do for demanding creative work.

What Google announced

The company's blog post, published on 29 September 2026 and signed by Menaka Shroff, vice president of marketing for Google's global Android ecosystem, says Cavill is putting the laptop to the test on his own projects. According to the post, he is building the game from scratch. Google singles out Continue on phone syncing, Rambler speech-to-text and Antigravity as the software features it is betting on, alongside Gemini Intelligence.

The announcement does not say what genre the game belongs to, and it names no additional creative partners. The project has a dedicated page on Google's site, where the company says it will post updates, though the "Follow for updates" link currently leads to the @Android account on Instagram.

The devices behind the campaign

Google announced the new laptop line earlier this year. Unlike Chromebooks, the machines run Android rather than ChromeOS, and the first five models have already been shown to reporters. Cavill, long known for his interest in games and fantasy, fits the audience the company is courting.

Why it matters

The partnership puts a well-known face in front of a product line that is still new to buyers. Whether the game itself will be substantial remains open: a November release leaves a short window for any project of scale, and Google's announcement avoids technical detail. Even so, a finished piece of software would be a more concrete showcase than a typical advertising campaign.
