Apple details Siri AI: a rebuilt assistant with a dedicated app
Apple's Apple Intelligence page outlines Siri AI: a conversational assistant with personal context, a dedicated app, Visual Intelligence on Mac and iPad, and Private Cloud Compute privacy.
Apple has detailed Siri AI, the next generation of its assistant, on its Apple Intelligence site. The company describes it as a conversational assistant powered by Apple Intelligence that can answer open-ended questions, brainstorm and hold natural back-and-forth conversations. Siri AI is rolling out in English first.
A dedicated app and personal context
Siri AI gains its own app that gathers conversations in one place, so a question asked on iPhone can be continued on iPad; conversations can be pinned or started fresh. Users can pick a voice and adjust expressivity and pace. Apple says the assistant can search a photo from years ago, find a buried email or pull details from a note, and take actions inside apps such as Messages, Music and Reminders - editing a message just sent or adding a song heard in the car to a workout playlist. It can also draw on online information for up-to-date answers.
Visual Intelligence and photo tools
Visual Intelligence arrives in the camera and expands to Mac and iPad, with smart actions such as splitting a bill, getting nutritional information for a dish or importing a card to Apple Wallet. On Mac and iPad, a screenshot can be searched and acted on; on Apple Vision Pro, users can look at text, images or real objects. In Photos, Spatial Reframing lets users change the viewpoint or angle of a shot after it is taken, the Extend tool expands a frame's edges, and an enhanced Clean Up removes larger objects. Image Playground generates images in nearly any style, including photorealistic.
Writing, translation and privacy
Write with Siri works wherever users type, drafting text or giving feedback, and matching the user's writing style, punctuation and tone in Messages and Mail. Live Translation translates messages, shows live captions in FaceTime and provides spoken translations for calls and AirPods conversations. Apple says processing stays on device where possible, with Private Cloud Compute handling heavier requests without storing user data. Siri AI is in beta in iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27 and visionOS 27, requires an Apple Intelligence-capable device, and will not initially be available in the EU on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS. Server-based features are subject to daily usage limits, with expanded access available for a fee in the future.
